MiniEx™ 3.0 — Focused Capability Exercise

MiniEx™ 3.0 is a lean, repeatable exercise methodology built around one or two priority capability targets. It preserves established exercise discipline while controlling scope, participants, documentation, and duration—then converts observed performance into a short, ranked corrective-action list with clear rationale.

Designed for emergency-management professionals who need a disciplined way to examine one or two priority capabilities without the burden of a full exercise package.

Why MiniEx™ 3.0

• Focused by design: Limits each exercise to one or two primary capability targets and, when needed, one closely related supporting target—preventing objective creep and preserving depth.
• Lean, not lightweight: Uses only the participants, scenario conditions, injects or prompts, and documentation required to answer the capability question while still allowing realistic uncertainty, constraints, and time pressure.
• Flexible exercise format: Can be discussion-based or action-oriented. The format is selected to fit the capability target rather than forcing MiniEx™ into a new exercise type.
• Faster to build and repeat: Exercise play is typically 60–90 minutes, with actual duration driven by the target and required decision points. Out-of-scope issues become candidates for the next MiniEx™.
• Decision-ready output: Findings are converted into a short P1–P3 (or Monitor/Accept) action list with explicit priority rationale based on consequence, urgency, recurrence, and dependency effects.
• Client-owned next step: Nexus Pioneer provides findings, priorities, and options. The organization decides whether to implement, resource, defer, accept risk, move to the next target, or re-exercise.
